Stephen Devassy

Stephen’s solo stage shows have propelled him to the top league of on-stage performers. He has also accompanied Violin maestro L. Subramanian at the Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival. It was a fusion with the London Symphony Orchestra.He is the only Indian, after Oscar and Grammy winner AR Rahman, to perform with the London Philharmonic Orchestra at Royal Albert Hall, London .

Stephen is the only musician to perform with all the legends in Indian Music scene like A R Rahman, Zakir Hussain, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Hariharan, Sivamani, Vikku Vinayakram, Mandolin U Srinivas etc.

He has worked with more than 50 music directors in many languages like Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Bengali, Kannada and programmed over 2000 songs . He is accompanying Oscar & Grammy Winner AR Rahman for his JAI HO world tour.

He has performed at Shakthi foundation’s annual fund raising concert, Ghananjani 2009 along with legendary Zakir Hussain, Mandolin U Shrinivas, Sivamani and Dominique Piazza. As of December 2010, Stephen has performed around 2000 concerts (including arena) with in and outside India.

He is the record holder as Asia’s highest scorer in solo piano exams from Trinity School of Music, London with a score of 92.2%. He also holds the record of completing the course in three years’ time.

He is one of the regular band members in Rex Band, a Christian contemporary band singing gospel fusion. He has performed with the band before Pope John Paul II. It was the only band from India to do so.

He is among those rare musicians from India who has performed before Tibetan spiritual head the Dalai Lama when he was awarded the ‘Mother Teresa Memorial Award for Social Justice’.
